Jess J. Segovia 08/01/1935 -08/19/2023

Jess J. Segovia, 88 years old, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19th at home, surrounded by family & friends.

Jess was born on August 1st, 1935 in Martinez California, he was the oldest of three children. He was proud to be raised in Pittsburg where he lived his whole life. Jess was married to Consuelo in 1958. They were married for 63 years and were blessed with three children, Lisa Segovia, Leticia Rodrigues & Joseph Segovia.

He attended Pittsburg High School class of 1953. He joined The Army National Guard in 1955-1965 as a Corporal and was working temporarily for US Steel Mill (wire & nail) dept. He started his own Janitorial service, while working at the Lafayette school district as a gardener until he got the call from LMC hiring him as a Gardener II in 1974 for a permanent position. This started his career with Contra Costa Community College District, he transferred from LMC in 1986 and took the position of Senior Gardener at CCC. Later that year in 1986 he transferred to DVC and became the Lead Gardener and worked there until 1998 when he retired after 24 years of service.

He spent his retirement years vacationing to all of Mexico to visit friends and going to his Wild R Ranch & R-Ranch in the Sequoias for many years. He enjoyed going to many casinos to gamble and to play bingo. He recently enjoyed vacations to Palm Springs, Napa, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Las Vegas and Hawaii. He was a founding member of the Church of Good Shepard in Pittsburg where he attended Church and events with his family. He became a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus #7164 at Our Lady Queen of the World Church in Bay Point. His favorite holiday was Halloween where he always had two costumes to change into and pass out candy.

He is survived by his daughters Lisa, Leticia (Joey), his son Joseph and Grandson Yinsakiya Stanton. He is also survived by his sister Virginia. He is preceded in death by his wife Consuelo, his parents, his brother and many other relatives.

Visitation will be on September 7th from 3p-5:30p, Rosary at 4:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass on September 8th at The Church of Good Shepherd in Pittsburg at 11am, committal services following at Holy Cross cemetery in Antioch.
