We are sad to report that John Shumway, retired history faculty member, passed away on September 30, 2019.
John joined the DVC history department in 1966. His original degree was in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota. He later decided to transfer to American History and received an MA from the University of California, Berkeley. For many years John was active in faculty governance. He was very involved with the Art and Lectures Committee and spent 11 years as a member of the United Faculty Board. John served as the 1977 Faculty Lecturer addressing “Joy on the Downward Curve.”
