We are sad to report the passing of John Spence Weir on March 10, 2022. John began his career with DVC in September 1970 and retired as a photography instructor in June 2004.
A former student and later employee in the Art Department shared the following: John was a brilliantly skilled artist and a masterful instructor, inspiring thousands of students during his career, many of whom went on to a life of being educators and practicing artists.
A memorial retrospective of John’s work is planned for January 2023 in DVC’s new art gallery space.
